The conference will take place in the Main Building of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (July 8) and the Main Building of the University of Vienna (July 9–11), which are both located near the center of Vienna and easily accessible by public transport.

If you arrive in Vienna via plane, the (cheaper, albeit a bit slower) alternative to the CAT is taking the S7-train to the city. To get around in Vienna, we recommend buying a ticket for public transport. A 7-day ticket of the “Wiener Linien” costs 19.70€.

The nearest subway stations to the Austrian Academy of Sciences Main Building are Stubentor (U3), Schwedenplatz (U1, U4 – please be mindful of the construction work currently being done at the U4 line) and Stephansplatz (U1, U3)

The nearest station to the University of Vienna Main Building is Schottentor, reachable by U-Bahn line U2, tram lines 1, 37, 38, 40, 41, 42, 71 and D and bus line 1A (please note, that lines 43 and 44 currently don’t stop at Schottentor due to construction work).

We recommend using Google Maps to reach our venues with public transportation.

We are expecting some warm summer days in Vienna with temperatures up to 35 degrees Celsius. While the seminar rooms at the University of Vienna are air-conditioned via district cooling, our social events, coffee breaks and the poster session will be held outdoors (at the Arcaded Courtyard), so dress accordingly.

The Viennese tap water is not only drinkable, but usually exceptionally cool, since it comes directly from the mountains. The ICLaVE|12 water bottle you will receive at registration will help you cool down and stay hydrated! (We also will have beverages waiting for you throughout the week, but you can trust Austrian tap water to be perfectly drinkable and refreshing).

There are no pre-booked hotel contigents for ICLaVE|12.

However, there are a variety of accommodation options in all price ranges within walking distance of the venue or easily reachable by Vienna's excellent public transport system.
